Get Help With Emergencies

If you have a life threatening medical emergency please dial 999

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Get Help Out of Hours

If the surgery is closed you will be advised to phone our Out of Hours Answering Service who will contact the duty doctor.

If you need help now, but it’s not an emergency, go to or call 111.

Request a Home Visit

Patients whose illness prevents them from attending the surgery can be visited in their own homes, if felt appropriate by the duty on-call doctor. Please book an appointment with a GP who will assess your heath needs and make the necessary arrangements directly with you.

Obtain Test Results

All test results are received by the Practice electronically and viewed by the doctors. They will contact you if there is a problem. For more information click here

Order Repeat Prescriptions

Shawbury now has a dedicated phoneline for repeat prescriptions. Please ring Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) on 03333 583 509 (local call rate). Open Monday – Friday between 8am – 5pm.

Requests may also be made by ordering online using the national Patient Access service.

Alternatively you can return your Repeat Prescriptions Request Slip to the surgery, putting this into one of the two Prescription Post Boxes.

Your medication will be ready SIX WORKING days after we receive the request.

Patients who pay a prescription charge and require a regular supply of drugs may find it cheaper to purchase a pre-payment certificate. Please ask the receptionist for further details.

Patients who are exempt from prescription charges, for reasons other than age, are reminded we are required to see the relevant proof.
