Get Help Out of Hours
If the surgery is closed you will be advised to phone our Out of Hours Answering Service who will contact the duty doctor.
Request a Home Visit
Patients whose illness prevents them from attending the surgery can be visited in their own homes, if felt appropriate by the duty on-call doctor. Please book an appointment with a GP who will assess your heath needs and make the necessary arrangements directly with you.
Obtain Test Results
All test results are received by the Practice electronically and viewed by the doctors. They will contact you if there is a problem. For more information click here
Order Repeat Prescriptions
Shawbury now has a dedicated phoneline for repeat prescriptions. Please ring Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) on 03333 583 509 (local call rate). Open Monday – Friday between 8am – 5pm.
Requests may also be made by ordering online using the national Patient Access service.
Alternatively you can return your Repeat Prescriptions Request Slip to the surgery, putting this into one of the two Prescription Post Boxes.

Your medication will be ready SIX WORKING days after we receive the request.
Patients who pay a prescription charge and require a regular supply of drugs may find it cheaper to purchase a pre-payment certificate. Please ask the receptionist for further details.
Patients who are exempt from prescription charges, for reasons other than age, are reminded we are required to see the relevant proof.
Raise Concerns/Complaints
We offer a Practice Complaints Procedure to deal with comments, suggestions and complaints about the service we provide. Our aim is to give you the highest possible standard of service and we try to deal swiftly with any problems that may occur.
Make Suggestions
If you have any suggestions for improvement in the way the practice operates, the Doctors and Staff will be glad to receive them in the “Suggestions Box” in the main waiting room.
Safety First – Violent/Abusive Patients
This practice operates the NHS “Zero Tolerance” policy with regard to patients who are violent or abusive to staff. These patients will be immediately removed from our list and violent patients will be reported to the police.
Protecting Confidentiality and Access to Information
The Practice is committed to protecting all patient confidentiality and to ensuring only authorised persons have access to patient records. Patients may request information held about them, as in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (and GDPR).
